June Recap and July Goals

Happy 4th of July, friends! I hope you all have had a wonderful and fun holiday weekend! I spent a lot of time with my extended family, going to a baseball game, having yummy takeout BBQ, doing sparklers, and just generally having fun!

It's crazy that we're already several days into July, and also halfway through 2017! But personally, I'm super excited for the month of July, because for me, that means my big, exciting trip to Europe!!! So you could definitely say this will be a big month for me!

As always here on the blog, with a new month comes a new set of goals. And starting this month, I'm officially part of a Monthly Goals Collaboration with several other bloggers! Here are this month's awesome collabers:

And now, I give you a recap of how I did on my June goals, along with my goals for July:

J U N E  R E C A P

Finish out my environmental science class well.
I am happy to say that I finished up Environmental Science quite well ~ in fact, I got an A- in the class! *pats self on back*

Get any remaining necessities for my trip.
Done as done can be!

Blog 3 times a week.
This one gets to be crossed out halfway. I did so well with this for the first 2-3 weeks of the month, until I hit a busy / uninspired week where I only posted once (and then the next week posted twice). So I accomplished like, 75% of this goal.

Finish reading "Saint John Paul the Great: His Five Loves."
I am the slowest reader on the face of the planet, you guys. Yep, you guessed it: I'm still not done with this book. However, I made a lot of progress on it and I'm this close to being done with it!

Read "The Story of a Soul" (St. Therese's autobiography).
Negative. However, I decided to bring it with me on my trip when I'm in France, so I'll be reading it then!

Start reading the Diary of St. Faustina.
Also negative. But also have decided to read it on my trip when I'm in Poland!

Don't spend any money unnecessarily.
I'm happy to say I did quite well on this one! Yay for saving money.

Practice French 4 times a week.
This one gets another halfsy (is that a word?), because while I did practice some French, it was not with that amount of regularity.

Exercise 3 times a week.
Same with this goal. I did exercise, but not with that amount of regularity.

Get rid of some more clothes.
Nope, didn't get around to this one. I'll have to do it in August when I'm home from my trip.

Finish knitting my dishcloth + knit one more thing.
While I did not knit one more thing, I did just about finish my cute little dishcloth!

Write + queue up blog posts to go live throughout July (while I'm overseas).
Done! So even though I'll be gallivanting abroad, you can still expect to see some posts from me over the next few weeks!

J U L Y  G O A L S

Now for my July goals... Except that I only have one. Since I'm going to be out of the country for a large part of the month, my one and only goal is:
Have an amazing trip!!!

So there you have it, friends! Happy July!

Summer Capsule Combo: Red Midi Skirt + Stripes

top:  Forever 21
skirt:  thrifted
shoes:  Birkenstock Mayari via Amazon

I picked up this adorable red midi skirt at my local Salvation Army for like $3, and it's quickly become one of my favorite skirts! I've always been a fan of red but have never had many red clothes, so I was happy to add this red item to my closet. It goes with all of my striped and neutral-colored tops (which I have a lot of, ha), which has made it a perfect addition to my capsule wardrobe.

This striped tee is loose-fitting and sooo comfortable! I found it at Forever 21 last summer and have been constantly wearing it ever since! I like its length, because it's not too short like a crop top, but it's still short enough to lay perfectly with many of my skirts (like this red one or my black maxi).

Thanks for reading, and have a lovely day!

Summer Capsule Combo: Print Midi Skirt + White Tee

top:  H&M
skirt:  eShakti
sandals:  Birkenstock Mayari via Amazon

I know these photos are a little on the dark / fuzzy side, but hopefully you get the picture (I just made a pun, ha ha haaa). I got this geometric print midi skirt from the overstock section on eShakti, and it's one of my all-time favorite skirts! I typically pair it with a white tee (like I did here), a light blue tee, or a purple tee, and it matches perfectly with all three. This skirt is comfortable, super modest, and it has pockets ~ what could be better?!

eShakti is an amazing website for finding adorable, modest, and wonderfully feminine clothing, especially dresses. If you've never heard of it, you've gotta check it out! (This is in no way a sponsored post ~ just some straight-up eShakti lovin!)

This white tee from H&M is so comfortable, and the little pocket is a cute feature. I loved this tee so much at the store that I bought it in white and also in black, and I wear both all the time!

Thanks for reading, and have a lovely day!

Summer Capsule Combo: Green Shorts + Black Tee

top:  H&M
shorts:  Old Navy
sandals:  Old Navy
watch:  Target

This is one of my favorite casual outfits to wear on a chill day of running errands, hanging out with a friend, or going out on a summer outing. It's comfortable, functional, and also cute. I think the black and the military/olive green color complement each other well, and the orangey-brown sandals and watch make nice accents.

I have the best luck finding shorts at Old Navy. Their shorts fit me like a charm, and they're the perfect length: not too short, but not too long. I'm not a fan of super short shorts (or denim underwear, as my sister and I like to call them), and bermuda shorts are kind of awkwardly long ~ but Old Navy's shorts are the happy medium. So if you're looking for shorts that are short enough for hot summer days without being denim underwear, Old Navy is the place for you!

Thanks for reading and have a lovely day!

Summer Capsule Combo: Stripes + Denim

top:  Old Navy
capris:  Kohl's
sandals:  Birkenstock Mayari via Amazon
purse:  thrifted

This capsule combo is one of my go-to outfits for a day of running errands, going to class, or going to a coffee shop to do homework or blogging. It's a functional and comfortable outfit, as well as a cute, effortless look. Plus it combines some of my favorite pieces ~ a striped t-shirt and my Birks ~ so I love wearing it!

I really have an obsession with striped shirts, so when I saw this one on Amy's blog a few months back, I just had to have it for myself! It's the comfiest tee ever, and you can dress it up (perhaps with a statement necklace), or dress it down for a cute / casual look, like I did here.

Thanks for reading, and have a lovely day!
